Summer Registration Time!
Summer Registration Time! Greetings, parents! I hope you are as excited as we are for you to join our Illini family. Once students have accepted their offers of admission and have reviewed their Admitted Student Checklists, it is mandatory for them to sign up for Summer Registration. This full-day campus program is required for all students who live within 500 miles of campus. Students who live further than 500 miles away may complete the program online. In order for your studentâs sessions to go smoothly, they will need to be prepared. After signing up for a program, your student should complete the following before coming to campus: Send AP scores directly from College Board. Do the college homework (available now on the Admitted Student Checklist). Take placement tests two weeks before coming for registration (available in early May). During Summer Registration, you and your student will start the day together and then separate for different sessions. As your student meets with academic advisors, discusses career goals, and picks courses for the fall, you will attend a Parent/Guest Orientation Program along with sessions on campus safety and housing. Parents and guests will eat together at one of our dining halls. We will provide each student one lunch ticket for his or her parent or guest; additional tickets may be purchased when lunch begins. Just as students are encouraged to mingle with their future classmates while they eat lunch, this is an opportunity for you to interact with other parents and guests, as there will be a great deal of information provided throughout the day. It is a long day, so I recommend comfortable clothing and walking shoes. After all the sessions, you will meet your student again and will be free to stick around or head home. If you have more questions, check out our FAQ page or give us a call at 217-333-0302. We look forward to seeing you on campus! Brian Assistant Director, Undergraduate Admissions I'm here to help high school students and their families navigate the college search process. An Illinois alumnus (LAS â02), I had the honor to play football for the Orange and Blue.
